A little about my summer by Stuart Lindquist

During the summer, I went to Palm Coast with my friend Max, who goes to IDS (a school). there I swam, hung out in the suite, caught fish with my cast net at the beach, and I went charter fishing. Carter and I went to Camp Kanuga (a camp associated with the church, and Ms. Leland has a part in it too). It was really fun.

We also went to a Boy scout camp called Camp Woodruff. At the camp I bought a new pocket knife, earned five merit badges: Horsemanship, Art, Citizenship in the Nation, First Aid, Swimming. We also went whitewater rafting for the first time. After camp we were dropped off with our Uncle Chris who took us to see Brandon and Katie (our younger cousins) and our Aunt Heidi. While in Atlanta we went to a waterpark called White Water. I had a great sumer!

Meet the new youth leader...

Hello Everyone! My name is Stefanie Taylor and I'm the new Curate and Assisant Chaplain at St. John's. I'm extremely excited about working with the youth here at SJE (St. John's Episcopal) as youth work is something that has always been a passion. I started my ministry as a young life leader in North Carolina when I was in college. Then I became a camp counselor at the episcopal camp in my diocese of Western NC. I loved camp so much that I worked my way up and became the director as well as the Interim Canon for Youth in the diocese.

I have also had my heart captured by mission work. I went to Zambia as part of an A.I.D.S. education team, spoke at a diocesan youth camp in North India while also touring a leprosy colony and working at an ashram, and have traveled around the USA helping wherever there is need.

My vision for youth is about bringing people together, bringing people to Christ, and encouraging all of us to continually seek who we are as well as whose we are. Life can be crazy beautiful and it can also be just plain crazy-the important part is that we are always aware of where we are and whether or not it's time to seek help or time to spread our wings-a strong community can give us the support we need to discern our lives.

If you want to know what I like to do for fun-pretty much anything. I've rock climbed, sky dived, hiked, biked, run, swam, and danced my way through this world and I've loved almost all of it. I can't wait to meet all of you!!

Love,

Mother Taylor or MoTay as one of my classmates liked to call me:)
